Introduction
Spirit is a one-of-a-kind handmade denim tote bag, created from beautiful blue denim and finished with three distinctive frayed denim feathers..Created as a one-of-a-kind Made by Nette Original, Spirit began with a simple idea: to transform denim into something with movement, texture and character.
The blue self-check denim forms the main body of the bag, complemented by a quilted tan faux leather base and matching rolled handles. Three handmade denim feathers sweep gracefully from the front corner, creating Spirit’s signature feature.
Every detail has been thoughtfully chosen, from the warm brown lining and matching zip to the sandstone stitching, bronze hardware and brown crossbody webbing.

The Story Behind the Name
Spirit
Some bags have a name before they’re even made. Others reveal their name along the way.
Spirit was inspired by the movement and freedom of feathers.
The three denim feathers on the front are each made from the same denim, but the direction in which the fabric is frayed reveals different shades and textures within the weave. What began as an experiment quickly became the defining feature of the bag.
They appear to sweep upwards from the corner, giving the bag a sense of movement — almost as though the feathers have caught a breeze.
And so Spirit felt like the perfect name.
A little bit of freedom, a little bit of movement, and a whole lot of handmade character.
Pattern Credit
Marcella Tote pattern is based on the Totini Tote pattern by Spencer Ogg.
The finished bag has been designed, made and embellished by Made by Nette, including the handmade denim feather detail.
Handmade Disclaimer
Spirit is individually handmade by Nette in the Made by Nette studio.
Small variations, natural differences in the denim, stitching and frayed fibres are part of the character of a handmade item and should be embraced rather than considered imperfections.
The denim feathers are deliberately frayed to create their distinctive texture and will naturally continue to soften and settle with use.
