With thoughtful storage, a comfortable adjustable strap and a timeless shape, Athena is equally at home on everyday adventures, days out, travelling light or meeting friends for coffee.

Personalisation – Make It Yours

Your Athena begins with your ideas. Choose the fabrics and finishes that reflect your personal style while keeping the original Athena design and construction.

Main Outer Fabric

Choose the main fabric for the lower front and back sections of your bag. This forms the main body of your Athena and provides the foundation for your chosen colour or pattern.

Accent Fabric

Choose a coordinating fabric for the upper front section and the crossbody strap. You can select a complementary colour or pattern to create a combination that’s uniquely yours.

Lining Fabric

Choose the fabric for the main lining of your bag, creating a coordinated finish inside.

Pocket Theme Fabric

Choose a contrasting or coordinating fabric for the internal pocket details, adding a little colour or personality to the inside of your Athena.

Hardware

Choose your preferred hardware finish for the zipper pull, D-rings, rivets, lobster claws and strap slider.

Made to Order, Not Completely Bespoke

The Made-to-Order Athena allows you to personalise the materials, colours and finishes while keeping the original Athena design and construction.

If you’d like to make substantial changes to the design, incorporate your own clothing or treasured textiles, or develop an idea that falls outside the standard Made-to-Order options, my Bespoke Commission service is the place to start.

Your Athena will be made especially for you once your order has been placed and your choices have been confirmed.

My usual turnaround is around three weeks, although this can vary depending on current orders, material availability and the time of year.

I’ll always aim to have your Athena on its way to you as soon as possible.

The Story Behind the Name

The Athena Crossbody Bag takes its name from Athena, the Greek goddess of wisdom, courage and craftsmanship.

Athena was also associated with weaving and traditional crafts, making her a particularly fitting inspiration for a handmade bag created with care, skill and attention to detail.

The Athena Crossbody balances beauty with practicality — thoughtful organisation wrapped in a timeless design.

Just as Athena represents creativity, wisdom and skilled craftsmanship, every Athena made by Nette celebrates the care and artistry that goes into every stitch.

Handmade Disclaimer

Every Made by Nette bag is lovingly handmade, so no two will ever be exactly alike.

Pattern placement, fabric details and finishing touches may vary slightly from photographs or from one Athena to another. These little differences are part of what makes a handmade bag special and give your Athena its own individual character.

Specific fabrics and finishes are subject to availability, but I’ll always aim to create a combination that reflects your choices and the Made by Nette style.
